In the Northern Hemisphere, June is filled with light. Sunrise is early and Sunset is later, giving us over 15 hours a day when there is light in the sky. That's because it's the Summer Solstice...It's the period of the year when due to the tilt of the Earth and its revolution around the sun we are at our peak hours of daylight because the sun is at its highest point in the sky, its zenith.
The word solstice is derived from two words: SOL, meaning "sun", and SISTERE, meaning "to stand still' because on the day of the solstice the sun rises a barely imperceptible distance compared to the day before and in a sense seems to stand still. This time also has come to be known as "MIDSUMMER" because it is roughly the middle of the growing season throughout most of Europe.
In Shakespeare's play "A Midsummer Night's Dream", many of the major themes deal with love out of balance, the quest for internal balance, dreams, magical intervention and the spiritual power of love. It is known in many cultures, such as in China, the Druids and Pagan cultures, etc... as a time for celebrating the feminine. Festivities have always been held honoring the sun/solar deity at its highest point in the sky...the apex of light upon the world.
Come join this experiential gathering, utilizing these longest days of light to clarify what has been obscured by shadow. We will spend this magical evening on a journey that will use the energy of this time period to bring light into the areas of our lives that we've kept in the dark to ourselves.
On this Midsummer's Night, as our hearts are open and love is in the air, we will renew our vows with Spirit, and re-call agreements that we made before we birthed here, in order to remember how to live in harmony with ourselves and all our relations.
